School presentation<\/span><\/h1>\n

IEPSCF is a \u2018Promotion Sociale\u2019 school or a school for adult education, where I do my training as an office technician. The institute offers training in several specialities like electricity, computer maintenance, photography, typing, sewing, drawing \u2026 and other types of training.<\/p>\n

The institute is located in Blegny, it has one department, it\u2019s old-fashioned, yet it is so large.<\/p>\n

The teachers and the secretary are nice and friendly. Because of the \u2018covid-19\u2019 the lessons are done remotely now until we can come back to school\u263a<\/p>\n

What about the formation of Office automation technician?<\/span><\/h1>\n

PowerPoint course:<\/h3>\n

One year ago, I d\"\"iscovered PowerPoint lessons. It\u2019s a lesson given by Virginie and where we can bring out our artistic side, a wonderful program. But this lesson provides support to any oral presentation. It\u2019s given by a passionate, devoted and patient teacher and above all human. Without this teacher, nothing would be the same. This woman, who gives me the desire to continue learning and not let go. Thanks to her, to her encouragement. She is very professional. I would like, by this little presentation to thank her. \u201cThanks, Virginie!\u201d<\/p>\n

Word course:<\/h3>\n

\"\"In the office automation section, we have the Word course. It\u2019s one of the principal courses of the option and the teacher is Virginie Boulle. In this course, the first reflexes that we must have, are those of always putting our text at \u201cjustify\u201d and chose one of the three fonts considered official for the business mails.<\/p>\n

Graphical Operating systems:<\/h3>\n

Today, I\u2019ll speak about Olivier\u2019s lesson. We learn technology. Olivier is a special teacher and funny. His lessons will lead us to our diploma. We have Olivier every Tuesday. At the moment, we work at home. There is COVID 19. I hope to go back to school soon.<\/p>\n

English course:<\/h3>\n

In the office automation section, there is the English course. You will acquire the basics of oral and written communication. At the end of the training, answering the phone, talking with a client or acquaintance, shopping, going to a restaurant, booking a hotel, writing an email, doing some research or purchase on the Internet, will be situations in which you will feel perfectly at ease.<\/p>\n

Communication course:<\/h3>\n

This course is or\"\"ganised to learn notetaking and to take position in front of a conference presented on a very specific subject. But first, this course will begin by a self-presentation with a few very funny questions that allow us to get to know each other and to feel more at ease with each other. This exercise puts a real life and complicity between us. Since this day, we are all attentive to each other. A wonderful experience! What would I be if I was a flower\u2026? And why? Does it remind you of anything, dear colleagues? Hihihihi<\/p>\n

What do we do? Students\u2019 opinions\u2026<\/span><\/h1>\n

In the first year, we have a communication course with Virginie, we learn note taking and position taking.
\nWe have a course called Graphical Operating Software.
\nThe teacher\u2019s name is Olivier Remy.<\/p>\n

In this course we learn to:<\/p>\n

  • start up the computer system,<\/li>\n
  • use the computer interface and customise it,<\/li>\n
  • install and uninstall programs,<\/li>\n
  • use the different computer devices,<\/li>\n
  • we learn the names of the different interface elements and their features.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    It is a course based on the technique and the practice.<\/p>\n

    Student 1:<\/h4>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    Hello, I would like to talk to you about something that I find important.\u00a0The breaks. These are very pleasant because we can talk with our friends about the lesson but about our life too.\u00a0When the teacher is friendly, he (she) comes with us and so can we get to know him or her.\u00a0Our friends can motivate us and explain things we don\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n

    Student 2:<\/h4>\n

    We are lucky to have a teacher who is young, smiling and always in a good mood. Ms\u00a0Lombet takes time to explain and adapts to the level of each student. We learn this vocabulary which relates to our future job in office automation.<\/p>\n

    Student 3:<\/h4>\n

    At the moment, we have Word and PowerPoint lessons with Virginie. In Word we learned all the different layouts, different commands. We are now typing beautiful texts. In the PowerPoint course, we learn to make presentations with a slide show. We learn to animate our slides, animate text, images, it\u2019s beautiful. Soon we will have a presentation to make in front of our friends.<\/p>\n

    Student 4:<\/h4>\n

    In the 2nd year, there are computer and office automation courses and website creation courses. One day a week of computer course and three days a week of office automation course. These are more advanced courses. We have every Friday off. At the end of the training, we take an exam in front of a jury to obtain the diploma.<\/p>\n

    COVID-19 in our school life\u2026<\/span><\/h1>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    When we closed the computers for the summer vacation, we hoped to be left alone by the COVID-19. But it seems that we have to live in school again with it. Now, we have school at home, all of our teachers use \u2018Moodle\u2019 and \u2018Discord\u2019 to help us with our studies.<\/p>\n

    These are platforms that facilitate our online courses. This is how we can keep \u2019in touch\u2019 with the teachers and students. It\u2019s the same as school, we start at 8:40 a.m. and finish at midday, but we are at home. But it\u2019s true that, because of that, we can sleep more.<\/p>\n

    Because of the COVID-19, we must stay home. The courses are done remotely. It\u2019s a big drawback. The courses are more restrictive.<\/p>\n

    • students no longer need to travel and follow schedules. You work from wherever you want, whenever you want, all you need is a WI-FI connection and a computer;<\/li>\n
    • we are at home;<\/li>\n
    • distance learning is suitable for all rhythms;<\/li>\n
    • we become more responsible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      DISADVANTAGES:<\/h3>\n

      • we can have hardware issues. Some parents work and need their computer,<\/li>\n
      • sometimes there are bugs with our computers,<\/li>\n
      • we can have problems with the Internet,<\/li>\n
      • the lack of supervision can be a problem,<\/li>\n
      • the lack of organisation can be felt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
